Printers with a touchscreen control panel: Open the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, select Wireless Setup Wizard, and then follow the instructions to select the network name and enter the password. Place the printer within range of the Wi-Fi router signal, and then connect it to the network. Reconnect the USB cable to the printer, and then connect the other end directly into a USB port on the computer. If the cable is the correct length and not damaged, continue with these steps. If the cable is too long or damaged, replace it. Make sure the cable is no longer than 3 m (9 ft 10 in) and free from damage such as fraying or severe bending. If the issue persists, continue with these steps.ĭisconnect the USB cable from the printer and computer. Click Add printer or the Add icon if necessary, and then follow the prompts to set up a USB connection. After the restart, open the HP Smart app. If there are updates, follow the prompts to update and restart the Mac. If there are no updates, continue with these steps.
